I installed BuddyPress today!
Could not be happier with what I have seen so far. Still working out some of the kinks and getting used to how it works but it really is fantastic so far. At work we have used products like Telligent’s community server and Microlink’s DiscoverPoint. Both are excellent products but they a pay for play. Community server used to have a free version – full license just scaled down – but now no longer offers it. BuddyPress offeres a lot with creating an online community that is easy to set up and configure. With in an hour I had the site up and running and was just playing around with customizing the look of the site and creating groups and forums.
Now I just need to see if I can use a Windows active Directory for authentication for WordPress / BuddyPress and we could offer it then as a solution for customers.
